I’ve always loved watching the original series of Sex and the City, not just for the fashion or city scenes, but for the connection between the women and how fiercely they protected each other’s well-being. At first glance, the show seemed fun and lighthearted, but beneath the surface…

Your Brain on Beauty: What Monet Taught Me About Art and the Mind

Stepping Inside a Painting Last month, I stepped into a painting and I don’t mean that metaphorically. I found myself standing in a softly lit space in Antwerp, where Claude Monet’s brushstrokes bloomed across the walls, floor, and ceiling. Water lilies rippled around my feet. Flowers shimmered and…

The Quiet Rebellion of Reading: Choosing Depth Over Distraction

There’s something quietly radical about curling up with a book in a world that urges you to scroll. Even more so when you choose a physical book, your eyes will thank you for the relief. We often don’t realize just how surrounded we are by screens until we…

In a world designed to capture and monetize our attention, maintaining focus has become a daily battle. Reclaiming our attention, focus and energy has become a quiet, yet profound act of defiance. Five years ago, during the Covid pandemic, I found myself in a similar place—reevaluating what truly…

Stop rejecting yourself! Stop rejecting your sensitivity, your emotions, your wants and needs. Stop rejecting your darkness and your light. Yes, even your own light makes you uncomfortable. We spend a lifetime of rejecting ourselves and for what? Are we waiting for someone else to give us permission?…

Slow down You have time. This idea of not having enough time is what makes you feel anxious, agitated and in a continuous state of perceived urgency. It’s what makes you feel overwhelmed to the point of shutting down. It makes you enter into freeze mode which results…

Dear readers, I’m starting a brand new series on the blog and I’m calling it ‘Note to Self’. What are ‘Notes to Self’? These are words of comfort, encouragement  and inspiration to help remind you of certain things while navigating this world and this human experience. I write…

The allure of others Just think about how much time, energy and effort we expend by focusing on other people’s lives. Time, energy and effort we then lack for ourselves and the lives we wish to build for ourselves. It often manifests as comparison to others which then…

Inspiring you to create a soft and nourishing life!

L'art de la vie There's a lot we can't control in L'art de la vie

There's a lot we can't control in life.

But there's a lot we CAN.

Simple, everyday things turned into art. By paying attention, being intentional and caring for ourselves and the environments we shape.

This is why I love French culture so much.

They understand that life is both a gift, and an art form.

They understand that we have the power to bring beauty and care to our days.

There might be tragedy, there might be loss. But beauty remains, even if we are temporarily unable to see it.

Go ahead...

Wear your favorite shirt.

Put on some lipstick and your favorite perfume.

Drink tea in a beautiful cup that belonged to your grandmother.

Watch the sun set while standing in the middle of a green meadow.

Giggle out loud at your dog's silly antics.

Eat your favorite dessert with all your senses heightened.

Hope you have a joy filled Sunday.🩷

The April Garden There are many things I love abo The April Garden

There are many things I love about April:

The return of strawberries

Happier dogs galavanting through the garden

Birdsong.

Soft morning light illuminating our bedroom.

The scent of lilacs blooming.

The sense of hope when a seemingly dead Winter garden wakes up after a long slumber. Making everything lush and beautiful.

The deliciousness of everyday life. Sometimes we The deliciousness of everyday life.

Sometimes we grow so accustomed to what we have that we become blind to it.

In today's world, I am particularly grateful for:

- calm mornings
- homemade dinners
- reading
- planting trees
- sitting close to the ocean
- noticing how a dog's breathing softens as they fall asleep
- enjoying coffee and a warm waffle
- buying fresh flowers
- opening up all the windows
- invigorating walks in the countryside
- the comfort and safety of home
- chatting with a colleague, not about work but instead, about gardening.

Intentional living is by definition an act of defiance, because it forces you to pay attention to the seemingly small things of everyday life. It nudges you to soften.

In a world that pushes us to harden, suppress and be distracted... this is rebellion. It isn't loud and it doesn't roar, but it is rebellion nonetheless.

It is a quiet resistance.

Hope you are well and safe, wherever you may be.🩷
